Pet Sounds was the ultimate rock album in its day. It is still considered by many to be one of the best albums ever recorded. Brian Wilson through The Beach Boys did what he set out to do and that was to create the best rock album of all time.

Beginning with their classic, "Wouldn't It Be Nice", it just keeps on getting better.

"You Still Believe In Me" is a beautiful ballad with a wonderful Brian Wilson falsetto and a radiant melody.

"That's Not Me" is sung wonderfully by Mike Love and shows the depth and emotion of Brian Wilson's song writing. Tony Asher does a wonderful job with the lyrics on this one.

"Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulders)" is a beautiful arrangement (listen, listen to the strings).

"I'm Waiting For The Day" begins with a powerful introduction and then as sudden as the song begins, it suddenly changes its mood to something more melancholy. It doesn't stop there since it shifts back and forth and has an excellent instrumental arrangement to compliment Brian's lead vocal on this one.

"Let's Go Away For Awhile" is the album's first instrumental track and Brian used "...twelve violins, piano, four saxes, oboes, vibes, a guitar with a coke bottle on the strings for a semi-steel guitar effect, two basses and percussion" (taken from the liner notes in the "Pet Sounds" CD released by Capitol in 1990).

"Sloop John B" although a cover version, this song is almost synonymous with The Beach Boys and it is one of the best cover versions of any song done by The Beach Boys.

"God Only Knows" sung beautifully by Carl Wilson, is probably one of the best lead vocals done by any rock singer of any generation. It is difficult to imagine that we will never hear Carl sing this live ever again. For a wonderful Carl Wilson tribute visit this site.

"I Know There's An Answer", is a beautiful song with a wonderful melody and excellent saxophone licks throughout.

"Here Today" is another brilliant track with a brilliant vocal by Mike Love.

"I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" seems like a song that wasn't made for the time.

"Pet Sounds" has to be one the best instrumentals I have ever heard on a rock album. Brian used two empty Coca Cola cans for the percussion effect.

"Caroline No" was the first Brian Wilson solo single ever released. It was sung beautifully and remains a classic to this day.
