SHUT DOWN VOL.2 - THE ALBUM

Shut Down Vol.2 was released in March of 1964. It followed on the coat tails of a Capitol release entitled "Shut Down" which featured car songs from the Beach Boys and other hot rod artists, some of them fitting into the genre only by name and certainly not by music style, hence the tag "Vol. 2". There never was a Volume 1 of Beach Boys material.
This album contained two of the Beach Boys' most timeless classics, "Fun, Fun, Fun" and "Don't Worry Baby". It is unfortunate that the inferior album version of "Fun, Fun, Fun" could not have been scrapped for the superior single hit version. It also contained some other well produced cuts such as "Why Do Fools Fall In Love", which was also released as a single but failed to chart, and Murry Wilson's favourite song "The Warmth of The Sun" which he would later record on his very own solo album entitled "The Many Moods of Murry Wilson".
The following is the playlist of the Shut Down, Vol. 2 album:
Track 1 - Fun, Fun, Fun (B. Wilson - M. Love)
Track 2 - Don't Worry Baby (B. Wilson - R. Christian)
Track 3 - In The Parkin' Lot (B. Wilson - R. Christian)
Track 4 - "Cassius" Love vs. "Sonny" Wilson (M. Love - B. Wilson)
Track 5 - The Warmth of The Sun (B. Wilson - M. Love)
Track 6 - This Car of Mine (B. Wilson - M. Love)
Track 7 - Why Do Fools Fall In Love (F. Lymon - M. Levy)
Track 8 - Pom Pom Play Girl (B. Wilson - G. Usher)
Track 9 - Keep An Eye On Summer (B. Wilson - B. Norman)
Track 10 - Shut Down, Part II (Carl Wilson)
Track 11 - Louie Louie (Richard Berry)
Track 12 - Denny's Drums (Dennis Wilson)
My favourite cuts from this album are as follows in order of preference:
1. In The Parkin' Lot
2. Don't Worry Baby
3. Fun, Fun, Fun
4. This Car of Mine
5. Pom Pom Play Girl
