BEACH BOYS' PARTY - THE ALBUM

Released in October of 1965, "Party" was unlike any other album released up to that time. The album was complete with all of their mistakes and false starts. In fact it was quite refreshing to hear Mike Love stumble through "Alley Oop" and the substituted words inserted into "I Get Around" was also a hoot. A single was surprisingly released from this album and it did very very well. "Barbara Ann" hit #2 on the Billboard Charts in January of 1966. A remake of the Regents hit of May 1961, The Beach Boys, like they have with so many of their cover versions made it their song. It became a staple of their concert repertoire and is one of the songs most closely associated with the group.
