M.I.U. ALBUM - THE ALBUM

The M.I.U. album was another step in the right direction. The album was rich with great Beach Boys harmonies and wonderful melodies. The album is carried by an exceptional cover of Buddy Holly's "Peggy Sue" which the Beach Boys recreated and made their own. I think it sounds better than the original by Buddy Holly. It didn't do too bad on the charts either at #59.
"Kona Coast" is a refreshing return to the surfing sounds of summer and the chorus will be immediately familiar to most fans as a slightly modified version of the "Hawaii" chorus. Even so, it is still a great song. The closing sequence is vintage "Hawaii".
"Sweet Sunday Kind Of Love" is sung beautifully by Carl and the melody and Beach Boys harmonies that close the song make this a gem.
"Come Go With Me", although not the Beach Boys' best cover, did respectably on the charts reaching #18.
"Hey Little Tomboy" should have been burned or tossed into a garbage bin. The subject matter was absolute trash.
