LOVE YOU - THE ALBUM
Love You was a Brian Wilson solo album with a few Beach Boys numbers thrown in for good measure. The intended title "Brian Wilson Loves You" was scrapped for the title that eventually made the cover. The album itself is extremely enjoyable with only few of the cuts that one may want to skip. "Honkin Down The Highway" is probably the most energetic song of the album and it was a good choice for a single but unfortunately it didn't go anywhere on the charts.
"Johnny Carson" is pure fun and I laugh every time I hear it. Mike Love does a wonderful job with the verse. The ending chorus takes you by surprise but there is no where else for it to go. It is perfect.
"I'll Bet He's Nice" is another one of those classic Brian Wilson melodies that will stay etched in your mind forever. And if you happen to be in the same situation as the song suggests, then you the song will likely stay etched in your heart forever.
All in all this was a good album and it was a sign of better things to come.
