KEEPIN' THE SUMMER ALIVE - THE ALBUM

 

Keepin' The Summer Alive hit the charts in April of 1980 and reached #75. It was a mediocre album at best. "Goin' On" was the single that carried the album but even it did worse at #83.

There was an interesting collaborator on this album. Randy Bachman (The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive) collaborated with Carl on two numbers including a country style number entitled "Livin With a Heartache" which is a very pleasing song to listen to and it should have been released as a single and probably would have topped out "Goin' On".

"Some of Your Love" was a refreshing return to the pre-Pet Sounds Beach Boys style rock and roll. Some of the licks in this song reminds one of the "Be True To Your School" chorus.
