THE BEACH BOYS SHRINE

FOR HARD CORE FANS

FRIENDS - THE ALBUM

Friends was Brian Wilson's favourite album. Compared to Wild Honey and their next album, 20/20, this was very mellow. A very spritual album is how I would describe this one. Perhaps a little Transcendental Meditation will put you in the mood to listen to this. "Wake The World" is a short but very catchy tune. Their live version of "Wake The World" which you can find on their "Live In London" (a.k.a. Beach Boys '69) album is a lot livelier and robust.

The music on this album is a lot different in style than "Wild Honey" for example. If you didn't know that both these albums were done by The Beach Boys, you might think they were done by different artists.

Friends did not fare so well on the charts, reaching only #126 on the charts. It did not have the commercial appeal or the feel for that matter, that Wild Honey had. The album that followed this one would change that.

The following is the playlist for the Beach Boys' Friends album:

Track 1 - Mean't For You (Brian Wilson - Mike Love)

Track 2 - Friends (B. Wilson - D. Wilson - C. Wilson - A. Jardine)

Track 3 - Wake The World (Brian Wilson - Al Jardine)

Track 4 - Be Here In The Morning (B. Wilson - D. Wilson - C. Wilson - M. Love - A. Jardine)

Track 5 - When A Man Needs A Woman (B. Wilson - D. Wilson - A. Jardine - S. Korthof - J. Parks)

Track 6 - Passing By (Brian Wilson)

Track 7 - Anna Lee The Healer (Mike Love - Brian Wilson)

Track 8 - Little Bird (D. Wilson - S. Kalinich)

Track 11 - Diamond Head (A. Vascozo - L. Ritz - J. Ackley - B. Wilson)
